About the Manufacturer

Just south of the nation's furniture capital, High Point, North Carolina, a small rocky stream meanders through the quiet, rolling countryside. It flows by old farmsteads and new neighborhoods, dead gold mines and living forests, eventually becoming the Uwharrie River (pronounced you-WAH-ree). Ultimately, the water reaches the Uwharrie Mountains, a small range occupied centuries ago by Native Americans DeSoto called the Suala. The name "Uwharrie'' is attributed to them, a conclusion supported by references in John Lawson's 1701 journal documenting a visit to "Heighwarrie".

Today the Uwharrie Mountains and Uwharrie National Forest are known for their abundance of wildlife, deep recreational lakes, and peaceful, natural beauty. The name is synonymous with rustic charm and relaxation, perhaps the best description of the Original Uwharrie Chair.

A number of environmental objections plague most outdoor furniture products. Tropical lumber harvesting devastates rainforests, old growth deforestation threatens endangered species, and plastics disposal harms the environment. Whether or not these alarms are overstated, the concerns behind them are valid. Uwharrie Chair Company offers a simple alternative to imported teak, painted metal or hardwood, and molded plastic: pressure treated pine.

The wood of choice for ski lodge decks, marina docks, and landscape walks, treated lumber offers distinct advantages over other traditional outdoor materials. It is insect and rot resistant, it may be stained or painted (or left natural), and it's milled from a renewable resource: plantation grown southern pine. Uwharrie Chair Company uses heavy, one inch thick premium grade lumber kiln dried after it has been treated. Paints used to coat Uwharrie Chair products are latex enamel.

Order Confirmation:

Once you place your order, we will send out an order confirmation to you.  This ensures that we have recieved your order and have pre-authorized your credit card for purchase. When we receive your order, we will reach out to our suppliers and the process of constructing the swing will take place.

Order Shipment:

Very few of our suppliers keep stock, and most will build to order.  On the swings that are in stock, they will generally ship 3-5 business days after order as been received.  Porch swings will generally ship out in 1-2 weeks, and swing beds will ship out (on average) in 3-5 weeks.  Once the swing has shipped, we will send tracking information to you within 24 hours of your order leaving the warehouse.  This information will be sent to the original email provided, unless otherwise specified. If you have questions about the status of an order, feel free to email us at: sales@magnoliaporchswings.com.

*Swing beds & porch swings from A&L Furniture will ship out within 5-7 business days after order is received.

Damages:

All swings should be inspected immediately upon delivery.  If you notice any damage or defects, please take photos of the damage and send photos to sales@magnoliaporchswings.com.

If a signature is required for the delivery, and damage is noted, please reject the delivery so we can then file an insurance claim with the shipping carrier, and get you a new/repaired swing shipped out as soon as possible. This is extremely important, due to the fragile nature of the swings and potential for damage during the shipping process.

Swing Bed Shipments/Damages:

Due to the weight and size of our swing beds, they are shipped freight. Customers will need to have access for an 18-wheeler to access the end of their driveway for curbside delivery. The delivery trucks will not be able to pull into the customer’s driveway.

2-5 days after receiving the tracking information, a representative from the shipping carrier will contact the customer directly prior to delivering to ensure that someone will be present during delivery.  A date & time convenient to the customer will be set up for delivery.

During delivery, it is VERY IMPORTANT that the swing bed is uncovered and inspected carefully PRIOR to signing for the shipment. When signing for the delivery, the customer is stating that they are accepting the product “AS IS” and the shipping carrier will not be held responsible for any damages incurred during shipment nor the return shipping charges.

Should the customer inspect the item and find that the product was damaged during shipment, they SHOULD NOT sign for it, hence refusing the delivery, and notify us (Magnolia Porch Swings) as soon as possible. In this type of situation (a refusal of delivery due to damage) the shipping carrier will immediately return the product to the manufacturer and will be held liable for the shipping charges (both to the manufacturer and back to the customer) as well as the costs associated with repairing/replacing the swing.

Should the customer sign for the delivery of a damaged product, it will be the CUSTOMER’S RESPONSIBILITY to pay for return shipping both to the manufacturer, as well as the shipping charges of the repaired/replacement swing being shipped back to the customer. These shipping costs could range from $300-$600.  Therefore, it is VERY IMPORTANT to inspect the swing, refuse the delivery of any damaged product and/or sign for the product only once it has been deemed as not damaged in any way.

Cancellations & Refunds:

Any cancellations after 48 hours are subject to a $20 admin fee, whether or not your swing has shipped.  If your swing has shipped, you will be responsible for any return shipping costs.  Refunds can only be issued to the original card used when you placed the order, and are subject to a 20% restocking fee.

Our husband-and-wife venture of starting our own business, Magnolia Porch Swings, actually stemmed from our personal hunt for the perfect porch swing.  We had just moved into our “family home”, the house we see our children growing up in.  With three boys aged 4, 7, and 10 years old, we spend a LOT of time outside.  After tiring out, we would plop down in random lawn chairs sporadically placed on our patio in the shaded area under our deck. I remember thinking, “this just won’t do for my dream home!” So our hunt for the ideal hanging swing was on!

We visited our local big box stores, only to find the same few, bland swings that just didn’t have the character or charm we were looking for.  After having no further luck with our online search, we decided to have our porch swing built to our liking by a family friend who dabbled in woodworking.  We absolutely love our handmade swing and it has served us well -- but what about everyone else who may not be fortunate enough to live near someone who can whip up their perfect swing?

The idea of MagnoliaPorchSwings.com was born!  We aspire to provide our customers with the design, character and charm, as well as comfort that they desire from a porch swing for their homes.  We would love to hear your story as well as see photos of your beauty from Magnolia Porch Swings hanging proudly outside (or inside) your home!  Please visit our facebook page, Magnolia Porch Swings, and share away!  We hope you enjoy your experience on our site and look forward to helping your peaceful porch swingin’ dreams come true!
